Council Confirms Waste Collection Backlog Cleared
Calderdale Council and its waste collection contractor SITA UK have now cleared the backlog of household waste.
Crews have spent a number of Saturdays and worked additional hours collecting the waste that had been missed because of the severe weather conditions over the past few weeks.
Collections had to be suspended during the extreme winter weather, because refuse and recycling vehicles were unable to reach many collection points.
Calderdale Council and SITA UK have been working hard since then to catch up on the missed collections.
Councillor Amanda Byrne, portfolio holder for Economy and Environment, said:
“I would like to thank people for their patience. Because of the severe weather many people were left without collections for several weeks.
“We have been pulling out all the stops to clear missed collections as soon as possible and I am pleased to say the crews have now caught back up and normal service has now been resumed.”
Residents should now put out their waste on the normal day as the two weekly collection cycle has been resumed.
