Recycling Easier With Evening Openings Summer 2009

Four of Calderdale’s Household Waste Recycling Centres are open until seven this summer! To help people make the most of the light nights, four of Calderdale’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) will be open from 8am until 7pm, Monday to Friday from July 6 to August 7.

The four centres are:

  • Halifax HWRC, Lee Bank, Ovenden, HX3 5PN
  • Brighouse HWRC, Atlas Mill Road, Brighouse, HD6 1ES
  • Elland HWRC, Ainleys Depot, Huddersfield Road, Elland HX5 9JR
  • Sowerby Bridge HWRC, Mearclough, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 3LF

It’s just part of the ongoing improvements to the recycling service in Calderdale. CMBC have already refurbished the HWRCs at Brighouse and Elland to make them easier to use and they willl be refurbishing Halifax and Todmorden next.

More than 60% of the waste you bring to the HWRCs can be recycled, with separate containers for things like cardboard, plastics, timber, rubble and garden waste, as well as bottle and paper banks – all completely free of charge for domestic users.

Councillor Graham Reason, Portfolio Holder for Health & Social Care said:

“This is an excellent opportunity for people to make use of the centres outside normal working hours. I hope residents will take full advantage of the facilities during the lighter evenings, particularly for recycling garden waste.”

So don’t waste your chance to recycle, call 0845 245 7000 or visit the CMBC recycling website at www.recycleforcalderdale.org to find your nearest HWRC and see a full list of everything you can bring along.
