CMBC Cutting Hedge Gardening Services
Over the last 12months trainees from Calderdale Council’s Cutting Hedge Gardening Services, have transformed a plot at Pellon allotments. To celebrate their hard work there is party at Pellon Allotments, Albert Road on Thursday 13 August, 11am -2pm.
Calderdale Council’s Cutting Hedge gardening services provides a vocational training course in garden maintenance and horticulture for adults with learning difficulties.
Louisa Clarkson, Vocational Instructor in Horticulture, Calderdale Council who works within the Cutting Hedge service said; “We are holding this party to celebrate and recognise trainee’s hard-won achievements, which can then help them to move onto paid or voluntary employment.”
Cutting Hedge primarily helps older people in Calderdale to look after their gardens by; mowing the lawn, strimming, weeding, pruning, planting and much more…
The Pellon allotment in Halifax has had a full makeover with brand new raised beds. The allotment has also successfully grown fruit and vegetables for training Cafe HX1, they also provide a supported and caring environment where adults with a wide range of learning needs can obtain knowledge, practical experience and qualifications in catering.
