Brand New Swimming Pool For Sowerby Bridge

The countdown to brand new swimming pools and fitness centres in Calderdale has begun, with just eight weeks to go to a new leisure centre at Brighouse and 12 weeks for Sowerby Bridge.

Members of Calderdale Council’s Safer and Stronger Communities Scrutiny Panel will hear that the project is running on time and to budget when they meet tonight, Thursday 2 September, at 6pm in Halifax Town Hall.

Brighouse pool and fitness centre is due to be handed over to the Council on Monday 11 October, and set to open in time for the half term holiday on Monday 25 October.

Sowerby Bridge pool and fitness centre is due to be handed over on Monday 25 October and open to the public on Monday 22 November.
The project lost around two weeks at the start of the year due to the severe winter weather, but contractors quickly caught up and expect the pools to open on time.

Both leisure centres will include a 25 metre swimming pool, separate learner pool, gym and dance studio. You can now join online and enrol for swimming lessons at www.joinbrighouse.co.uk and www.joinsowerby.co.uk
