The Unthanks With Jonny Kearney & Lucy Farrell

The Mercury Prize nominees return to the Trades for a two night stint, with a critically praised new album, an extended line-up and a name change.

Rachel’s husband Adrian McNally is on piano and Chris Price has joined on guitar. Reviewing ‘Here’s the Tender Coming’, Robin Denselow wrote “Here’s an album that’s even more satisfying, compelling, and varied than ‘The Bairns’. Jonny Kearney is a young songwriter from Hexham way and Lucy Farrell is his charming Kentish accomplice. We’ve had an eye on Jonny’s songwriting for a while now, quite staggered by the quality and richness of his kitchen sink dramas and tales of the heart.

Says Rachel Unthank, “Jonny’s songwriting is heartbreaking and touching, humorous and unexpected, and never ceases to enthral”. Lucy (voice, fiddle, saw) and Jonny (voice, guitar, piano) are perfect foils for each other; “the fragility of one and warmth of the other is a moving combination,” says Rachel.

Jonny and Lucy will open for The Unthanks on every date of their 40 date UK tour.
