South Pennines Walk & Ride Festival 2010
Running from 11th – 26th September the fourth Walk and Ride Festival promises to be another great event in the UK’s outdoor calendar.
This year is special because the festival is celebrating Watershed Landscape Project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and managed by Pennine Prospects which focuses on the story of the South Pennines uplands. The festival is also taking the opportunity to celebrate The Ramblers 75th Anniversary year and the Year of Biodiversity through special events marked in the programme.
There are interpretive walks to places of geological and archaeological interest, various talks, and themed events focusing on special aspects of South Pennines life and landscapes such as built heritage and wildlife recording as well as how to pick and cook mushrooms (cooking session included!)
Please visit the website or download the programme as a PDF document for full details of the events.
Date: Monday 11th until Tuesday 26th September 2010
Venue: Various locations around the South Pennines region
Entry: Most events are free although for some, places are limited and you may need to book.
